First, we determine what will work best for you. A small walk-in closet or vault for valuables and short-term shelter. A single room as a fortified Safe-Panic room. Perhaps designating a common living area to become a Sanctury Area, such as a media room, master bedroom suite, or family room area, which often include a restroom and even a wet bar/kitchenette.
You can fully expect criminals to use hammers, bludgeons, and axes to gain entry. An attempted home invasion might even find you under threat from handguns or rifles. We design accordingly.
You may wish to armor your entry doors & large windows. Perhaps fortify your entire home, so wherever in the home your family might be, they are protected, and criminals remain frustrated in their efforts to gain entry.

Whether we are fortifying an existing living area or are building a sole purpose Sanctuary Area, they should be placed near where people often are. This is why master bedroom suites, family rooms, & media rooms are often selected. The same is true with in the placement of sole purpose Safe Rooms.
Forced entry attempts often occur during the night, so if possible, the path to the Safe Area should be quick and unencumbered.
Even with a Sanctuary Area or Safe Room constructed, we always recommend that fortified front and back entry doors be installed to gain time for family to reach and close your Sanctuary.
Secure Fortress fortified Sanctuary Areas are meant to blend into your home and be nearly invisible unless engaged. Sole purpose Safe Rooms may have architectural finished doors or vault-like doors.

Secure Fortress Safe Areas are designed and engineered to meet – and usually far exceed - industry standards. So… what does this mean?
DOORS & WALLS - Our RhinoVault Ballistic rated doors use MIL-A 46100 - MIL-A 12560 steel, or Waco Composite ArmorCore® Fiberglass.
MIL-A 46100 is high-hardness armor plate approved for by the Department of the Army and available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. Surface hardness of this material is between 477 and 534 Brinell. The custom fabricated steel is thin – 1/8” & 1/4” – custom fabricated for each Safe Area.
MIL-A 12560 is armor plate that is approved by the Material Technology Laboratory, Department of the Army. t is approved for use in combat-vehicles and for ammunition testing. Thickness ranges from 1/4” through 6” for use in combat-vehicles and 1/4” through 12” inclusive are for use in proof acceptance testing of armor defeating ammunition. The custom fabricated steel is thin – about ¼” – and custom fabricated for each Sanctuary Area.
ArmorCore® panels are thin, light weight, affordable, and designed to absorb a bullet’s energy. The composite laminate consists of fiberglass reinforced thermoset resin capable to defeat a bullet through a process of energy absorption within the laminate. Once the panels have begun to delaminate, any additional shots actually become progressively easier to defeat because the energy is more readily absorbed by the compressed laminate. ArmorCore® also provides fire resistance.
Ballistic doors are heavy, yet RhinoVault doors swing and roll as easily as ordinary doors due to precise engineering and heavy-duty ball bearing hinges. Roton hinges are often used.
WINDOWS - For commercial clients, Secure Fortress provides ballistic, blast, and forced-entry resistant windows from DefenseLite and BulletShield, with commercial window security films from RiotLite and 3M.
For residential clients, Secure Fortress provides ballistic, blast, and forced-entry resistant windows from Shield and residential window security films from RiotLite and 3M. We are one of the few that can provide you with operative ballistic windows (versus a fixed, in place window).
Secure Fortress utilizes the largest installer of window films in the country for your installation.
CAMERAS - Your home and property will be covered with high resolution cameras that feed directly into your Sanctuary Area, your cell phone, and iPad. Discrete cameras are placed in case visible cameras are obscured.
Survivability… can be comfortably livable. More than just armor.
AIR FLOW – If a situation calls hours or even days of stay in your Sanctuary Area, you want to have plenty of clean air. Secure Fortress will install separate system ductwork, safe cell, and overpressure valves to assure plenty of fresh air is available in your Safe Area. This will prevent stale, stuffy air in a tightly sealed area. Secondarily, it precludes a determined intruder’s attempts to pump gasses via the home ventilation system. Remotely operated dampers can be placed on existing home vents. NBC filtration might also be included.
POWER – Electricity can go down due to storms or be intentionally turned off by intruders. Secure Fortress discretely places battery backup/inverters of sufficient capacity to run lights, cameras, communications, and even small air conditioning or heating units.
COMMUNICATIONS – If your cellular signal strength is low or blocked or primary land lines or VOIP lines cut or disabled to your Sanctuary Area, we have several options such as signal boosters, an independent land line –- as well as LTE enabled and even satellite phones.
WATER/PLUMBING – You will obviously need a supply of water. We often recommend your Sanctuary Area include a bathroom specifically for that purpose. Even then, a water supply can be turned off or fail. While an independent 2nd water line is optimal, that is not always possible. Secure Fortress can use an existing or build a closet, cabinet for an ample supply of water. If no bathroom is available, camping type toilets would be included.
FOOD – While one never imagines being in a Sanctuary Area for extended periods of time, you can become very hungry after even a relatively short number of hours. A small refrigerator and microwave solve that issue. If your Sanctuary Area is a family area with a wet bar, these may already be in place. Both can be run by your backup power if necessary. We recommend a food supply be kept with your water.
WINDOWS & SKYLIGHTS – If there are windows in your Sanctuary Area, we will have already armored them. However, you may want more than curtains or standard blinds to keep prying eyes from peering into the room. Secure Fortress can install beautiful, stylish, automated security blinds or shades or sliding ballistic covers that operate similar to our armored packet doors.
Skylights can be an issue. We offer skylights that turn opaque with the touch of a button. Armored skylights are available, homeowners may want the same look and feel for all skylights. If so, like for windows, a motorized security blind can be implemented. Similar to a pocket door, it stays recessed and invisible until called into operation.
ANTI-DRONE MEASURES – As more advanced drone tech has become readily available, commercial facilities and estates have increasingly come under drone camera prying eyes. And drone surveillance is not the only concern. Hostile drones are able to carry chemical agents, and even weapons. Drones often fly too low to be detected by radar systems. Secure Fortress utilizes the some of the world´s leading Anti-Drone Technology to counter threats.
